Police say they used a Taser on a man who pointed a handgun at officers following a short pursuit in Lancaster County on Friday.

Authorities did not immediately identify the man. They said he sustained a head injury when he fell to the ground. He was transported to a hospital for treatment.

West Hempfield Township police said the domestic incident began around noon when a woman called 911 to report that the man had hit her and pulled a gun on her while they were driving on Route 30 westbound.

The driver exited Route 30 at Stony Battery Road and refused to pull over for responding officers, who ultimately boxed in his Dodge Ram pickup truck at a business parking lot. He then exited the pickup, drew his handgun, and started to point it toward officers before the Taser was used.

The woman’s 1-year old son was in the truck. Neither was harmed.

One officer was slightly injured while taking the suspect into custody.
