Police: Man threatened shooting when he couldn’t volunteer

Lancaster

A Lancaster County man threatened to shoot people at an assisted living facility because he wasn’t allowed to volunteer there, police said.

Mark A. Wingerd, 66, of New Holland, was denied a volunteer position at Mennonite Home Communities in Manheim Township and was told not to show up for a previously arranged meeting.

Wingerd threatened to show up anyway, and he said he would bring his gun and shoot anyone who tried to stop him, police said.

Wingerd was arrested at his home on Monday on a charge of terroristic threats.
