Protesters speak out against national emergency declaration

Lancaster

Organizers with the advocacy group Lancaster Stands Up held a rally opposing President Trump’s national emergency declaration.

Many in attendance say their parents came over the border for a better life, and an opprotunity to work and raise a family.

They called on Congressman Lloyd Smucker to stand up for what they say is right.

Smucker said in a statement, “President trump has made a strong case that there’s a humanitarian crisis at our southern border, and I agree. It’s congress’ duty to ensure the president is acting within his constitutional authority to address that crisis. After research and consideration, I believe he is acting within his authority to take this action.”
