St. Baldricks shaving heads for childhood cancer event

It is the 12th year that St. Baldricks in Lancaster city is raising money for childhood cancer research.

Billy Nonemacher the event organizer says, ” This is the 12th year for the St. Baldricks event in Lancaster city. We have a lot of volunteers getting their head shaved and they raised a lot of money to do so.”

Ann Long from Lebanon county niece was diagnosed with cancer and she lost all of her hair. So Ann went all in and shaved off all her hair.

“Hair grows back quickly, a child with cancer doesn’t have that luxury of hair growing back until their treatment is done and it’s such an important charity and very worthy of fundraising and donations,” Long says.

St. Baldricks volunteers say this year was a big success, many got a close shave and some went all in.

Nonnemacher says,” In 12 years we have made over a million dollars and today we will raise over another one hundred thousand.”
