Swim club founder charged in $40K theft case

Lancaster

The founder of a Millersville swimming club is charged with taking nearly $40,000 and using the money for a trip to Hawaii and other personal and professional expenses.

Kyle Almoney, 39, is charged with theft and forgery.

The Lancaster County district attorney’s office said Almoney took $39,953.64 from the nonprofit Marauder Aquatic Club between 2015 and 2017 when he was in charge of the club accounts.

In addition to a trip to Hawaii with his wife, Almoney allegedly used the funds at drinking establishments and for rental vehicles and Amazon purchases.

Almoney also used club funds for The Ville Swimming Academy, which he also founded, and for associated costs when he was the head coach of Millersville University’s women’s swimming team, the district attorney’s office said.

Almoney was arraigned before a district judge on Tuesday. Bail was set at $40,000 unsecured.
