Trial set for DJ charged in teacher’s ’92 homicide

Lancaster

A trial date has been set for a disc jockey charged in the 25-year-old homicide case of a Lancaster County school teacher.

Raymond C. Rowe, 48, is scheduled to go on trial May 6, according to court records. He’s charged with criminal homicide, rape, and related charges in the December 1992 killing of Christy Mirack.

Mirack, 25, was a sixth-grade teacher at Rohrerstown Elementary School when she was beaten, strangled and sexually assaulted in her East Lampeter Township home.

Prosecutors say DNA evidence linked Rowe, a disc jockey who used the professional handle DJ Freez, to Mirack’s killing.

The district attorney’s office intends to seek the death penalty if he is convicted of first-degree murder.
