Pennsylvania lawmakers returned to the state Capitol on Monday after sexual misconduct allegations came out against two of their colleagues.
State Rep. Brian Ellis, a Blair County Republican, was not on the House floor. Ellis is accused of having sex with an incapacitated woman against her will at his Harrisburg residence in 2015.
House Republicans on Friday stripped Ellis of his chairmanship of the Consumer Affairs Committee and called on him to resign.
Senate Democrats are investigating a claim that Sen. Daylin Leach coerced a 17-year-old Lehigh County girl to perform sexual acts in 1991 – before the Democrat represented Montgomery and Delaware counties.
Leach filed a defamation lawsuit against his accuser on Monday. He called the allegations a “salacious and despicable falsehood.”
Governor Tom Wolf has called on Ellis and Leach to resign.
