Lawmakers urged to abolish time limits on rape, sex assault cases

Local

Activists at the state Capitol called on lawmakers to abolish the statute of limitations in rape and sexual assault cases.

A rally Tuesday was tied to the new trial of Bill Cosby. The television star is facing three counts of aggravated indecent assault for allegedly drugging and molesting Andrea Constand at his suburban Philadelphia home in 2004.

Activists said more than 50 women have accused Cosby of rape or sexual assault, but many could not bring charges because of legal time limits on prosecuting cases.

They delivered the petition signatures of more than 12,000 Pennsylvanians who want the law changed.
