A fire has forced dozens of people out of a Lebanon apartment building.
The fire at the Willows Senior Apartments, in the 600 block of North 12th Street, shortly before 1 p.m. Tuesday.
About 100 residents were evacuated and likely won’t be allowed to return until this evening, possibly Wednesday morning.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Officials said it started in an electrical outlet on a second-floor balcony within an hour of someone using a power washer.
Mayor Sherry Capello said two city police officers on patrol spotted the smoke and flames. The officers knocked on doors and alerted residents until firefighters arrived.
One resident was taken to a hospital as a precaution. A firefighter was treated on the scene for a minor injury.
Officials said 44 residents were bused to a Salvation Army center for air conditioning. About 23 others went elsewhere in their personal vehicles.
Residents may return to the apartment building for their medications until 7 p.m., and they may call the emergency operations center at 717-675-1399 for more information.
