Salvation Army holds winter coat giveaway

Lebanon

About 100 families took advantage of the Salvation Army of Lebanon County’s free winter coat giveaway Wednesday.

Hundreds of coats in various sizes, as well as scarves and hats, were given out. Families gave volunteers their sizes, who then picked out the winter-wear for them.

st were donated to the Salvation Army by the United Way and a local Coats for Kids campaign. Several community members knitted hats and scarves for the yearly event.

“As I’m giving out the jackets and the coats, I get excited and I’m shopping like it’s for me you know, but the thing is that you can see the families. If it’s for a little baby girl, I don’t know, I feel something. It’s exciting,” said Lt. Ivonne Rodriguez, of the Salvation Army of Lebanon County.

Extra coats will be at the Salvation Army if families missed Wednesday’s event.
