Suicidal man arrested after barricade incident in Hershey, police say


HERSHEY, Pa. (WHTM) — A man was arrested Monday night following an incident on the 700 block of Cocoa Avenue when he barricaded himself and threatened to kill himself and possibly hurt others.

Officers received reports of a suicidal man with a handgun around 6:10 p.m. Multiple neighboring homes were evacuated during the incident while residents nearby were advised to stay inside.

A crisis response team was able to able to negotiate with him into surrendering around 8:20 p.m. and there were no reported injuries.

He has since been transferred to a medical facility for evaluation while an investigation is currently underway. No charges have been filed.
