A massive new park is in the works in York County, it’s expected to cost millions of dollars. Dover Township officials hope to get most of the money from grants, and they want to hear your feedback.
Kim Heim is always looking for things to do with her 3-year-old son, and she’s thrilled to hear of plans for the Eagle View Park. “I’m pretty excited,” said Heim.
The park will be built on 49-acres of land behind the municipal building, which the township bought for $1.7 million in 2011.
Rachel Johnston also thinks the new park proposal will be good for the community. “I think a 49-acre park would be great for a place for children and families to come together,” said Johnston.
The Township has hired a land architect to look at a design. Some of the ideas include an amphitheater, baseball and softball fields, disc golf, walking trails, a playground, restrooms, and warming stations.
Chris Keller and Rachel Johnston have some ideas for what they would like to see.
“The disc golf is interesting, but that it could be kind of scary,” said Johnston.
“Batting cages because we don’t have any of those around here. A mini golf course if that’s possible,” said Keller.
“It would be nice to see toilets of smaller sizes for smaller kids because I know with the smaller kids, younger kids, it’s kind of hard for them to climb up on that.”
