More options coming for eating in downtown Hershey

Construction continues on Hershey Towne Square, the 165,000 square foot mix-use complex will be home to several well-known restaurants and retailers.

“I think it is great we have a lot of residents who work at Hershey med and go to school at nearby
Penn State I think it gives us more options I think it is a great addition,” said Tiffany Bicher, who supports the project.

Hersheypark and other attractions draw nearly 3.5 million visitors to the town each year. Towne Square will give more dining options for those from out of town and local residents.

“Some people want a quick bite to eat and a little less expensive and jersey mikes is going in here and I like that option,” said Bicher.

A 300 space parking lot will help ease congestion, so far, the mix-use facility has drawn mixed reviews.

“It is jarring it does not seem to blend in with the rest of the town which is a beautiful looking
american town,” said Bernard Ryan, adjusting to new complex.

Bernard has lived in the area for more than 40 years, he understands the big picture.

“I am always happy to see new business come in and it helps the economy and the neighborhood so I wish them well but I wish they would have picked a different design,” said Ryan.

We spoke to the developer on the phone, and a majority of the tenants are expected to open by mid to late September.
