New police robot will be making rounds at schools and community events in York County

ETTERS, Pa. (WHTM) - - Newberry Township Police are utilizing artificial intelligence with its new officer, Sgt. Barkley, who is now on patrol in York County.

"Well it's a pleasure to meet everyone. My name is Sgt. Barkley. I'm the newest officer here at Newberry Township Police," said Sgt. Barkley. 

Sgt. Barkley will be visiting schools and community events throughout the year, and will participate in the department's teaching, educating, and mentoring program, or TEAM. 

"Sgt. Barkley's primary responsibility, or assignment is going to be accompany our TEAM instructors into the classroom, and get the kids involved, and have a fun element to our lesson, and be able to connect with those kids," said Sgt. Braxton Ditty, Newberry Township Police. 

Sgt. Barkley was purchases with $15,000 of community donations.
