Pa. text alerts to warn of scams

The state attorney general’s office has a new text alert system to raise awareness of scams.

The text alerts will be sent to subscribers at least twice a month. The alerts will offer tips to avoid becoming a victim, warn about new scams, or update people on consumer protection issues.

“It’s important for Pennsylvanians to know what schemes are out there so they can avoid getting scammed,” Attorney General Josh Shapiro said. “Our new text alert system provides real-time updates and practical tips to empower Pennsylvanians to protect themselves from these schemes.”

There is no fee to sign up.

Pennsylvania’s can subscribe by visiting the attorney general’s website and opt out via text after they receive an alert.
