A lot of people have expressed concerns over a repair project on the Harvey Taylor bridge. Their main concern is how will it affect getting to work and back home we decided to get some answers.
PennDOT has a message board on both ends of the bridge alerting drivers know work will begin on June 18th. The heads up has generated a lot of calls from drivers asking how long the project will take to complete.
It’s called a one-day retro-fit operation, and crews are expected to complete the work that day. The repairs will take place on the eastbound side. Traffic will be down to one lane, and the sidewalk will be closed.
The westbound lane will not be affected. PennDOT is doing what it can to minimize traffic congestions.
“We are going to start the work at about 9am after the morning rush hour and between 9am and three pm do a retrofit of the bridge,” said Greg Penny, PennDOT spokesperson. “It is a one possibly two day operation it will not effect the rush hours and people can res easy as we approach the repair date.”
