Perry County district judge on administrative leave

Local

A magisterial district judge in Perry County has been placed on administrative leave.

Deputy sheriffs were present when Judge Daniel McGuire was removed from his Duncannon office on Tuesday, abc27 News has confirmed.

McGuire presided over District Court 41-3-03, which includes the Marysville and New Buffalo areas.

We’re told he was placed on leave over an administrative matter, but no other details were available.

An employee who answered the phone at the office on Wednesday said McGuire will be on personal leave for at least eight weeks.

The Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts issued a two-sentence statement confirming that McGuire was placed on leave effective Aug. 28.

“Moving forward, an interim judge will be available to hear cases while the office remains open to serve the needs of the community,” the statement reads.

McGuire was sworn in as a district judge in 2005.
