Police investigate death of Franklin County Jail inmate

Police are investigating the death of an inmate from the Franklin County Jail.

Kevensly Cherilus, 20, of Chambersburg, suffered a medical emergency on Sunday. He was transported to Chambersburg Hospital and pronounced dead, state police said.

Cherilus was jailed July 12 on attempted homicide and other charges related to a drive-by shooting in Chambersburg. Police said he fired at people from a vehicle driven by a 17-year-old girl.

State police and the Franklin County coroner’s office are investigating his death.
