CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – State police are investigating a Franklin County farm for possible animal abuse.
The investigation comes after an undercover employee with the animal rights group Compassion Over Killing recorded video with a hidden camera at Martin Farms near Chambersburg. The video shows cows being punched, kicked, and stomped on.
Compassion Over Killing says cows were prodded with hot irons and tools without any sedation then inhumanely killed.
After an investigation by Washington, D.C. television station WJLA, Martin Farms released a statement saying they were unaware of the alleged abuse and appalled at the video. It said all employees seen mistreating animals in the video have been terminated.
Martin Farms supplies milk to Nestle Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream in Laurel, Maryland. Nestle told WJLA that it was “deeply disturbed and shocked by the video.” and “immediately stopped accepting milk from the Martin farm” when it learned of this issue.
Police say Martin Farms has been fully cooperative with the investigation.
