Police: Man screamed racial slurs, assaulted state trooper

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) - A Franklin County man was arrested after he assaulted a state trooper, police said.

Robert C. Brooks, 49, is charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, and ethnic intimidation.

State police in Chambersburg said they were called to a home off McKenzie Road in Guilford Township for a domestic-related disturbance around 7:35 p.m. Monday.

Brooks became irate, verbally combative, and screamed vulgar, ethnic, and racist statements at one of the troopers, who is African American, police said in a news release.

Brooks then shoulder punched the trooper in the face and repeatedly punched the trooper in the ribs. The physical struggle continued until a Taser was used to subdue him, police said.
