Repair work is underway to fix a car eating sinkhole at the Tanger Outlets in Lancaster County.
Nearly two weeks ago, a portion of the parking lot caved in, taking six cars with it.
A team of engineers and contractors began digging up the hole this morning.
Crews are using a large excavator to dig deeper into the ground where the cars were swallowed.
The General Manager for the Tanger Outlets says crews are removing the parking lot in layers.
There is no timetable on how long the work will last, but officials are hopeful the work will uncover why the hole opened up.
“The goal is to see a quick repair but of course to take the time to see the necessary process with the direction of the engineers,” said Monica Trego, General Manager, Tanger Outlets.
As the work continues, we’re told crews will be here six days a week, and 12 hours each day.
