It’s the first weekend of trout season for some Pennsylvania anglers.
Saturday is Mentored Youth Trout Fishing Day in 18 southeastern and southcentral counties.
Children must have either a youth fishing license or a free mentored youth fishing permit and be accompanied by a licensed adult with a trout permit.
Children may keep two legal trout, while adult mentors may fish but not keep any trout.
The Fish and Boat Commission recommends people fish at lakes since heavy rain this week has swollen creeks and streams.
The 18 counties are Adams, Berks, Bucks, Chester, Cumberland, Dauphin, Delaware, Franklin, Juniata, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, Montgomery, Northampton, Perry, Philadelphia, Schuylkill, and York.
The statewide Mentored Youth Trout Fishing Day is April 6.
The opening day of trout season for the 18 counties in southeast Pennsylvania is March 30. The statewide opener is April 13.
