Three Mile Island shut down

LONDONDERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WHTM) — The Three Mile Island tower demolition is being postponed.

Energy Solutions says the cooling towers won’t come down until next year or even the year after instead of taking them down this year.

Workers would have started to remove the damaged core. It will take several years to demolish the towers, remove the core, and even more to decontaminate and decommission the site.
