MIDDLETOWN, Pa. (WHTM) -- - Officials involved with the search say that the body of missing 3-year-old Madelyn Binkley was found Thursday evening in the Susquehanna River in Middletown.
The Dauphin County District Attorney's Office is handling the investigation. Representatives did not comment Thursday, but say there will be announcement Friday morning.
Crews were near the boat ramp on South Union Street for about three hours, until about 10:30pm.
Harrisburg River Rescue Chief Frank Egresitz confirmed that the body was found, but we do not yet know who found the body.
Madelyn Binkley went missing Monday night, after the boat she was in with her father and mother capsized near the Dock Street Dam. Her father, Cody Binkley, was taken to the hospital to be treated for hypothermia. Her mother, Mary Bredbenner, did not make it.
Earlier on Thursday, the Dauphin County Coroner's Office ruled Bredbenner's death an accidental fresh water drowning.
Wednesday, Swatara Township Fire Department Assistant Chief Brenden Orth said, “We’ve brought in these crews that have contacted us from all over the area that have asked to be a part of this search effort. Every single one of us....we want to find this little girl to bring her home to the family, certainly for the closure.”
