107 mosquitoes found with West Nile in York County

The rain is bringing more than flooding.

York County reports 107 additional mosquitoes tested positive for West Nile virus, bringing this year’s total to 550. The mosquitoes were collected between Aug. 30 and Sept. 7.

There has been one confirmed human case of West Nile virus in York County, and 26 confirmed human cases in Pennsylvania this year.

The state is urging people to remove standing water around their home. Even a tiny puddle can be a breeding ground.

Officials also suggest wearing bug spray and covering up to avoid bites.
