2 charged with assault on game warden

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. (WHTM) - Two York County men have been arrested for an attack on a game warden in Schuylkill County.

Wade Winemiller, 57, of Wrightsville, and Thomas Kelly Jr., 57, of Stewartstown, are charged with aggravated assault, robbery, resisting arrest, and related offenses.

State police said the game warden was investigating a complaint of a hunting violation in Norwegian Township on Saturday when he encountered the two men on ATVs.

A fight broke out between the three and the game warden fired a round from his service weapon.

Both suspects then fled on their ATVs. Police said the pair was not dressed in hunting clothes.

The game warden was treated at a hospital for injuries he sustained in the fight.

Winemiller was in Schuylkill County Prison after failing to post $150,000 cash bail. Kelly was released after posting bail.
