The Capitol Theatre at the Appell Center for Performing Arts is getting a $1.6 million makeover.
The 450-seat theater is home to many kinds of performances. The theater, built in 1906, was last renovated in the 1980s.
So, it’s getting new seats, bathrooms, and extra room for concessions.
“The operations have been a bit antiquated, and so modernizing all that stuff while retaining the historic character and charm of this downtown theater is exciting to us and all the people that we’ve met,” said Dale Elkiss, the director of operations at the Appell Center.
Organizers expect the project to be finished in October.
