A man found dead in the Codorus Creek in East Manchester Township last month has been identified.

Charles Keitt, 57, may have been homeless. He is known to have lived in York County, as well as Philadelphia and the Pittsburgh area, York County Coroner Pam Gay said Friday.

He was last seen in the York area, at LifePath Christian Ministries, on or around Aug. 8.

A family of kayakers found Keitt’s body in the creek near the Starview Sportsman Club on Aug. 28. Officials believe the body had been in the water for several days.

The cause and manner of death remain undetermined.

Authorities are asking for information regarding Keitt’s next of kin. Anyone with information should call the York County Coroner’s Office at 717-840-7617 or Northeastern Regional police at 717-266-6195.
