Elderly couple assaulted during home invasion robbery

NEW SALEM, Pa. (WHTM) – Police are looking for two men who had handguns when they forced their way into a York County home and assaulted the elderly couple who lived there.

The home invasion robbery occurred in the 3900 block of Bahn Avenue in North Codorus Township around 10:30 p.m. Monday.

Southwestern Regional police said when the couple answered a knock on their door, the man who lived there was immediately struck on the head and pushed down a flight of stairs.

During a struggle, a shot was fired by one of the suspects, but no one was struck. The intruders then fled without taking anything. Police said they were looking for valuables.

The male resident was hospitalized for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. His wife sustained multiple bruises and was treated at the scene by responding medics.
