A former Delone Catholic High School teacher will serve prison time for having an inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old student.
Gary J. Hatez Jr., 32, of Hanover, pleaded guilty Monday in Adams County Court to a misdemeanor count of corruption of minors, according to court records.
In exchange for the plea, Hatez agreed to serve 4-24 months in prison and three years of probation. He must also participate in and successfully complete drug and alcohol treatment and sex offender conditions.
Police said Hatez gave the girl a pair of thong lace underwear at school as a birthday present and then persuaded her to send photos as “proof” she was wearing them.
Hatez and the student also exchanged thousands of text messages, police said.
