Local cycling event helps families in need this Thanksgiving

York’s annual Cranksgiving event was held on Saturday. Sponsored by Cycle Works of Wrightsville, the event is part bike ride, part food drive, and part scavenger hunt, all held to benefit the York County Food Bank.

Starting at 9:00 a.m., bikers raced around town to a list of specified stores to purchase fresh produce, dairy items, and frozen soups for donation, all with the goal of getting to as many stores as possible by 11:30 a.m. Those who got to the most stores received prizes.

The event was part of a national Cranksgiving campaign to help feed families in need ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.
