A memorial service will be held Friday to honor the life of fallen York police officer Alex Sable.
The 37-year-old officer from Lancaster County leaves behind a wife and three young children.
Sable went into cardiac arrest May 6 while training to become part of the county’s emergency response team. He was training in Baltimore County, Maryland when he was taken to the hospital. He died a few days later.
Sable served as a U.S. Marine for eight years, including two tours in Iraq. He was a York police officer for four years.
The York City Police Department said Sable was a friend to all and will be sincerely missed.
His family described him as a loving and devoted husband, father, son and brother.
The memorial service is Friday at the York Expo Center’s Utz Arena, beginning at noon. Everyone is invited. For more details go to yorkcity.org
There is also a fundraiser to help financially support Sable’s family during this trying time. That can be found here.
