Officers claim racial discrimination in lawsuit against prison

York

Two corrections officers are suing the York County Prison for racial discrimination.

The man and woman have worked at the prison for over a decade. In the lawsuit filed last month in federal court, the officers say the prison has intentionally discriminated against them based on their race. Both officers are African American.

The officers claim York County Prison allowed managers and employees to demean and bully them with derogatory language.

They also claim that they are repeated assigned to the most dangerous areas of the prison and were passed over for promotions because of their race.
