PennDOT is making plans to repair and pave just over seven miles of Interstate 83 in southern York County.
The nighttime milling and concrete repair project from the bridge over Mt. Airy Road in Hopewell Township to the bridge over Route 214 in Springfield Township is scheduled to begin May 8.
The $11 million project includes a full-width removal of the top layer of asphalt, accelerated concrete patching, and resurfacing the interstate with an asphalt overlay.
PennDOT spokesman Miek Crochunis said all the roadwork will take place at night, so the contractor will not restrict travel lanes or ramps between 5 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Drivers may encounter a single lane of travel in either direction five or six nights a week.
