Police: 2 passed out on drugs, endangered kids

DOVER, Pa. (WHTM) - Two people are accused of endangering their children by passing out from drug outside a York County convenience store.

Brent Heisey, 36, of Ephrata, and Amy Zink, 32, of Elizabethtown, are charged with child endangerment, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Heisey is additionally charged with DUI of a controlled substance.

Northern York County Regional police said Heisey and Zink passed out in a Dodge Durango in the parking lot of a Turkey Hill store in Dover Township Sunday evening.

A 14-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl eventually went to a store clerk for help. The boy told the clerk their parents had been passed out in the SUV for over an hour.

Police said Heisey and Zink had snorted Xanax and used over-the-counter painkillers. They said both parents were lethargic and spoke with slurred speech, and neither knew where their children were when questioned by officers.

The children were released to York County Children and Youth Services.

Heisey and Zink were placed in York County Prison. Heisey's bail was set at $75,000 and Zink's bail was set at $20,000.
