If you’re looking for a white Christmas, you can find it at Roundtop Mountain Resort.
The ski slopes opened for the season on Sunday, much to the amazement of some guests.
“Sixty degrees and rainy – I don’t know how they made snow, but they did it somehow,” Hunter Drake said.
“We’ve been making snow for a couple of weeks, but as you know, the weather’s been really crazy. So, yesterday, we finally got the go ahead. We groomed it all out and here we are,” Roundtop Mountain spokesman Chris Dudding said.
Grass is showing in several spots, but that was done on purpose.
“We had big piles of snow and we pushed it out so we could keep it a couple of feet deep in case it gets warm,” Dudding said. “We should start to spread it out a little bit more in the next day or two.”
Roundtop Mountain is open Christmas Day from noon until 10 p.m. and then through New Year’s Day from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
