YORK, Pa. (WHTM) – PennDOT announced that a traffic switch is scheduled on Route 124, Mount Rose Avenue, at the Interstate 83 (Exit 18 Interchange) in Springettsbury Township, York County.
The switch will place traffic onto the newly constructed roadway and bridge spanning Interstate 83. This will allow the contractor to reconstruct the existing Route 124 roadway and structures.
The switch will begin on the evening of Saturday, May 2, and is expected to be completed by Sunday, May 3, weather permitting.
Once the work is completed, Route 124 westbound traffic traveling onto I-83 southbound will no longer need to make a right onto the access road and turnaround at Greenhill Road. They now will take a left at a traffic signal directly onto the I-83 southbound on-ramp.
The existing I-83 southbound off-ramp will be temporarily closed until it is reconstructed in a later phase, and the newly constructed I-83 southbound off-ramp will be opened.
The I-83 northbound on-ramp from Route 124 eastbound will be temporarily closed and detoured as follows: Route 124 eastbound traffic to I-83 northbound will be directed to turn right onto the I-83 southbound on-ramp and use Exit 16-A (Queen Street) to access I-83 northbound.
Motorists should be alert and drive with caution through the work zone.
