Woman killed in York County fire

York

YORK, Pa (WHTM) – A 74-year-old woman was killed in a house fire in West Manchester Township, York County on Wednesday.

Crews were called to the home on the 2200 block of West Philadelphia Street at around 12:30 Wednesday afternoon.

The coroner identified the victim as Linda Aponte.

The township’s fire chief said two other adults were in the home at the time and tried unsuccessfully to get the Aponte out.

She was on oxygen, which contributed to the fire, according to the chief.

Investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire, but believe it started in a front room.
