Experts say you don’t have to be an extreme couponer to save hundreds of dollars a month. First Capital Federal Credit Union gave savvy shopping tips at Collusion in York Wednesday.
It takes a little time to get good at couponing, but event organizers say it’s easy once you get the hang of it.
Downloading apps for your favorite stores could save you cash.
Lisa Barshinger, who ran the event, says an average family of four spends $500 to $600 a month on groceries. She says with coupons, that could be reduced to less than $150.
“Most times, you can combine the paper coupon with the app along with the savings, the sales at the grocery stores. And when combining all three of those, you can really get your best deal,” said Barshinger.
The credit union is holding another couponing presentation in November.
