York Suburban students walk out on Columbine anniversary

York Suburban High School students are our making posters, giving speeches, and demanding what they call, ‘common-sense gun reform.

Fresshman Ruby McKeown is one of the organizers of this walkout at York Suburban High School. Groups of students walked out of class, and to the football field.

During three different lunch periods, they made these posters and took turns giving speeches. McKeown says the event is not about banning guns, but about new gun laws in hopes of preventing more mass shootings across the country.

“We are the next generation coming up who will be the voters, and I think it’s important to rally together and realize that while some may think that we’re just teens and we can’t do anything, that we can, and together we will make a difference,” said McKeown.

The organizers say they’re planning more walkouts in the future.
