Monday morning officials broke ground for a new fire house for the Hershey Volunteer Fire Company.
The $6.8 million project will be the first renovation to the station since the 1970’s.
The new station will be double in size and will feature a two story addition and sleeping quarters for up to 12 crew members.
The original 1928 section of the fire station will remain a central element of the new design.
Officials hope to complete construction by early 2016.
