Fighting the opioid crisis in the workplace. 80% of small and medium businesses do not have a drug policy in place. 

That’s where Drug Free Workplace PA comes in. It’s a state-funded non-profit whose sole mission is to help employers deal with addicted employees. 

They believe that employers can be a first line of defense. They will help businesses write, and implement, a drug policy that works, free of charge.

Gina Riordan with the organization says there’s one thing that’s often missing in weak drug policies. 

“I would say that they’re not thorough enough, they don’t really address, they don’t have a list of substances that they should,” said Riordan.

What’s in it for an employer to get an employee sober? Each year, employers lose $15,000 for each employee who’s using.
