HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) – Pennsylvania elections officials are suggesting that counties should post notices at polling places during Tuesday’s primary to explain that votes on a judicial retirement age constitutional amendment won’t count.

The Department of State wrote counties Thursday after a court ruling that delayed the amendment vote until November.

The letter says most counties won’t be able to comply with a directive from the Legislature that they remove the question from the ballot. It suggests counties post the notice and “obscure” the ballot question from absentee, emergency and provisional ballots.

Automated computer reporting of results means at least some of the vote count on the measure will likely be available online Tuesday night.

The ballot question asks if the mandatory retirement age for judges should be increased from 70 to 75.
