The Miss America Organization has kicked out Pennsylvania and three other states.
All four states have had their licenses terminated, which means current leaders need to be replaced.
The states can appeal the decision to a Miss America executive committee.
A lawyer for Georgia and West Virginia says licenses for those states were also terminated.
One other license was terminated, but no other public confirmation of receiving the notice has been made.
Fifteen other states have also been threatened with probation.
The organization is taking action in response to state pageant groups who revolted against the national leadership ahead of this year’s competition.
State officials claim the dissatisfaction with the organization was not in relation to eliminating the swimsuit competition, but instead by the way CEO Regina Hopper and former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson have been running the organization.
