PITTSBURGH (AP) – Authorities say a law enforcement officer was wounded and a suspect was killed in a shooting during an drug enforcement operation outside a suburban Pittsburgh shopping center.
The state attorney general’s office said an officer was in stable condition after being shot twice during an operation by the office’s bureau of narcotics investigation in Ross Township.
The Tribune-Review reported that police cordoned off the parking lot in front of the plaza’s Big Lots store, where the body of another person was under a white sheet near two vehicles that appeared to have bullet holes in them.
The shooting occurred on the same day a funeral was held for an off-duty Pittsburgh police officer killed in the city.
The attorney general plans to visit with the officer and his family.
