Police: Lancaster man shot man in leg

Police in Lancaster City have arrested a man, accused of shooting another man in the leg.

According to police, Rafiq Vanhook, 26, of Lancaster shot a 27-year-old man in the leg around 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the 400 block of Lafayette Street.

Vanhook was reportedly inside a vehicle on Lafayette Street when he fired several rounds at the 27-year-old man and a 21-year-old female, who were standing on the street. Police say female is Vanhook’s ex-girlfriend.

Police say they believe the gun used in the incident was stolen from Vanhook’s ex-girlfriend during a confrontation.

Vanhook has a prior criminal conviction which prohibits him from legally possessing a firearm. He’s charged with aggravated assault, robbery, persons not to possess firearms, firearms not to be carried without a license and recklessly endangering another person.

He is currently awaiting arraignment.
