Joyce defeats Ottaway in 13th congressional district

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) - A local seat in Congress is staying in Republican hands.

GOP candidate and political newcomer John Joyce won Tuesday's election for Pennsylvania's 13th congressional district by defeating Democrat and college professor Brent Ottaway.

The 13th district includes a large part of the former 9th congressional district held by retiring Republican U.S. Rep. Bill Shuster.

The district includes western Cumberland and all of Adams and Franklin counties.
