INTERCOURSE, Pa. (WHTM) – A Lancaster County man has been held for court for a fatal shooting at his Sadsbury Township home.

Lucas A. Newnam, 31, was ordered to face a criminal homicide charge following a preliminary hearing Friday, according to District Attorney Craig Stedman’s office.

Authorities say Newnam on May 27 shot 26-year-old Julius Dale III in the 300 block of Creek Road, near Christiana.

A witness told investigators he heard the two men arguing in the basement before Newnam emerged from the home with a shotgun. The witness said Dale came into the doorway and Newnam threatened to shoot him, and Newnam then fired a shot that struck Dale in the chest.

A formal arraignment is scheduled Aug. 12.Get breaking news, weather and traffic on the go. Download the ABC27 News App and the ABC27 Weather App for your phone and tablet.
