It’s been a bad year for romaine lettuce.

Even though certain romaine crops have been deemed safe to eat by some public health agencies, the Centers for Disease Control is continuing to warn against eating any of the lettuce harvested in northern and central California.

An outbreak of E. coli illnesses in several states has been linked to the vegetable.

So far, 52 people have been infected with E. coli during the outbreak. Of those, 19 have been hospitalized.
