South Carolina couple headed for Midstate found safe near Pittsburgh

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. (WHTM) – A South Carolina couple traveling to visit family in Cumberland County was found safe near Pittsburgh.

Investigators said Ed and Dorothy Raines left South Carolina Monday at 10 a.m. bound for New Cumberland.

They said they decided to visit friends in Beaver Falls before coming to New Cumberland.

The couple was traveling without a cell phone and could not be reached.

Family members were concerned about the couple’s safety.

“I’m terrified now. I don’t know what happened. My head is just spinning. They’re very sweet people and they’re very vulnerable, anyone can recognize that and if they run across them there’s  no telling what they could have done,” said Irving Raines, Ed’s son, Wednesday night.

Both Ed and Dorothy are safe and they had no idea anyone was looking for them.
